This was a sweet, short read. On the one hand, the writing was great and the conflict was intriguing. However, the conflicts felt too big for the length of the book. Such deep-seated trauma should be given appropriate attention so that the healing process can be believable. The conflict resolved really easily, and not believably at all. *Spoiler* All of the sudden the hero realized the error of his ways, said he would be better, and then she forgives him and it's all good. He never has to prove himself, and she doesn't seem to consider that maybe decades old habits won't change over night.
Strike A Match - Heartwarming! A well written, interesting romance with believable characters and plot. The book never looses the reader's attention and can be read easily in one sitting.
Meet Your Match - Fun. Not my age group, but this is a cute story about how high school-aged Brooke became a matchmaker. Another well written, interesting story with believable characters and storyline. Has a preview of what the book is about, which I appreciate knowing before I read any book.
Miss Match - This well written romance takes place eight years after they met in high school. The characters, from Meet Your Match, are still believable, the dialogue realistic and the plot well thought out, fun with a touch of sadness. Definitely, a great relationship romance.
Chasing Someday - Excellent story! This is a different type of story from this author. This well written book runs the gamut on emotions and keeps the reader glued to the pages. I've never read a book by Ms. Armstrong that was disappointing. Although a different topic from her other books, this is an excellent read, just expect a few tears.
Tomorrow's Lullaby - Heartwarming. Another great story. I read Chasing Someday before continuing with this book. Both of these stories aren't like the other books by this author. They're amazing! A well written book, again, filled with emotions of all types, that keep the reader glued to the pages. I enjoyed reading these two books, even though I'm not too crazy about the subject matter nowadays, but my interest never wavered while reading these two gems. You don't need to read Chasing Someday, but it's worth the time.
Kiss Me in the Moonlight - This is not a fluffy romance, it has substance. A well written, intriguing romance with believable characters and a good plot set in Europe. The tour chaperone and her teen aged group mixed with the covert agent striving to prevent their kidnappings and solve a murder fills the story with suspense.
Kate's emotionally abusive husband dies in a house fire and Kate feels relieved and guilty for not missing him. 18 months later Kate has a new job and a newly rebuilt house, and she decides she's ready to start dating again. She turns to Toujour, a matchmaking service, to help her get back into the dating world.
Taylor, a firefighter, is also a client of Toujour and is one of 3 guys matched up with Kate. What Kate doesn't realize until their first date, is that Taylor is the firefighter she met the night her house burned down and her husband died, but Taylor remembers her.
Kate is determined to leave the past behind and doesn't want any reminders of her deceased husband. What will it take for Kate to give Taylor a chance? Is Taylor willing to the necessary changes in his life for Kate to give him a chance?
I really got into this book from the beginning and listened to it/read it in one evening. Looking forward to reading more in the No Match For Love series. This is a clean romance book.
A stand alone read with a HEA. This is a sweet story with a little romance but no sex so appropriate for any age group. I think YA would enjoy it as well as older teens. The heroine is a young widow. Her husband suffered from a back injury and over the years he became abusive and very hard to live with. Working 12 hr. shifts as a nurse, taking care of him, and her household chores was just about more than she could tolerate. It all ended when the husband was killed in a house fire. He fell asleep smoking a cigarette! All she felt was relief that it was over.
A young fireman was the one to tell her that her husband didn't make it. He would never forget the sorrow he felt for her losing her husband as well as her home and all her belongings. A year and a half later she decides it is time to get her life moving forward. She didn't really grieve the man her husband had become she mostly just felt guilt that she didn't grieve for him. She was one troubled young lady. But, she decides to use a new dating service to start dating again. She had no idea that her fireman was also a member of the same dating service. You can see where this is going.
Yep, they wind up "matched". The story has a bit of drama as he deals with some issues in his own life and she tries to get over guilt and fear in hers. It is an interesting story and I enjoyed it. It took them a while to get themselves going in the right direction but they finally do. There is no sex in the story, but a romance that builds between these two. I would definitely recommend it. It is a quick read.
